In collaboration with Barbora Haplová, we embarked on a quest to bring forth an unprecedented encounter—an immersive experience depicting an oil leak catastrophe. Breaking away from conventional approaches that rely on color-coded satellite imagery to depict the spread of an oil spill, we embraced a more audacious path: sonification. We believed that this method held the key to bridging the gap between the abstract nature of oil spills and our innate ability to comprehend and empathize with such disasters. Our ultimate aim was to create an experience so captivating that it would transport you directly into the heart of the accident.
Our project centers around the website. At its core lies audio player, housing a repertoire of 12 tracks, evoking the essence of the catastrophe. To further enhance the immersive nature of the experience, we also incorporated a virtual reality Sanchi oil tanker.
